Academic Recognition & Criteria

General Information

The symposium holds international accreditation and meets the academic promotion criteria for appointments to faculty positions such as lecturer, associate professor, and full professor in accordance with the regulations of the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK). As an international event, it is recognized with the status of an "international symposium" in university appointment and promotion processes.

Conditions under the Academic Incentive Regulation

According to the Academic Incentive Regulation published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2021, for a symposium held domestically or abroad to be eligible for academic incentive, more than 50% of the papers presented must be delivered by non-Turkish (foreign) participants.
As the organizing committee, we are currently unable to predict the number of papers that will come from each country. This issue will become clear by the final paper submission deadline.

Regarding Associate Professorship Applications

According to the 2021 regulations, national and international congresses are evaluated equally in terms of scoring for associate professorship applications. With its international status and commitment to publishing a proceedings book with an ISBN, the symposium offers a suitable platform that meets these criteria.

Faculty Appointment and Promotion Criteria

Each university determines its own criteria for faculty appointments and promotions. However, due to the symposium's international status and commitment to publishing an ISBN-numbered proceedings book, it is expected to fulfill the scoring requirements of many universities. Participants who publish the full text of their presentations will be able to use them in academic promotion processes.

Symposium Organization

The symposium is organized as an outcome of an international project and is being carried out in collaboration with partners from seven different countries. It has been simultaneously announced in these countries, and our partners are actively encouraging participation through communication with their academic networks. Based on our initial assessments, it is anticipated that the symposium will meet the requirements of the Academic Incentive Regulation and will be considered an international symposium.

Paper Submission and Evaluation Process

Until the final submission deadline and the completion of the scientific evaluation of submitted papers, the country distribution and compliance with other criteria of the accepted presentations cannot be definitively determined. These details will be shared with the public once the evaluation process is completed.

Conclusion

The Cities4Youth International Symposium is an internationally recognized event that meets the criteria for academic incentives, associate professorship, and faculty appointment and promotion. Participants will benefit from the academic sharing environment and opportunities offered by the symposium. All processes of the symposium are carried out transparently and in accordance with scientific standards.
